 Algarve Getaway

Algarve Getaway
Dreaming of a perfect getaway yet still in a dilemma which place to choose? Don’t fret! Sit back now and let me tell you about Algarve.

Algarve is located in the extreme south of mainland Portugal. It has 16 municipalities and its major towns are Portimao and Faro. Tourism is one of the leading industries in the region as well as seafood, fish and fruit production. In old times Algarve was under Moorish rule before being conquered in the late 13th century by the Portuguese king Dom Afonso III. Remnants of Moorish existence can still be felt in its influence in the whitewashed houses with distinctive terraces and chimneys.

Algarve is a popular destination because it has an attractive climate, exhilarating beaches, fertile lands, inviting marinas, tranquil golf courses and a vibrant nightlife. Some visitors who have been enchanted by the beauty of Algarve have opted to purchase holiday homes or permanent residences. European Union citizens will not have a hard time in procuring a wonderful home in Algarve since they have the right to freely buy property and live in the region with just a few requirements; so if you are an EU citizen, you are very welcome here! If you are from another part of the world, better check with the laws concerning citizens from other countries; however, there’s no need to worry, you are still very much welcome in Algarve!

Well known places in Algarve include Faro which is the capital of the region and has a number of monuments, churches, museums and Roman ruins; Monchique with its beautiful houses, churches and glorious spas overlooking the ocean and the hills; Lagos which has charming marinas, medieval fortresses, churches and attractive points of interest; Portimao which is a known fishermen’s town with its fortress, Roman ruins, churches and beaches; Olhao with its Moorish style square-shaped, flat-roofed houses with unique terraces; and Taviras with its picturesque views of houses, churches, and welcoming long beaches. Other interesting places in Algarve include Albufeira, Sagres, Cacela, Silves, Castro Marim, Lagoa, Mancarapacho, Vilamoura, Ponta de Piedade and a whole lot more!

If you think that Algarve suits your need of a wonderful place to go to or stay in, get yourself together and prepare to buy a pleasant home in this sunny place in Portugal!
